The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in 2002-2003. The department offers a four-year degree program in Mechanical Engineering with an annual intake of 180 students, two-year M.Tech P.G. program in CAD CAM with an annual intake of 18 students.

Welcome to the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Raghu Engineering college, Visakhapatnam. We started our journey in the year 2002 with the mechanical stream. Over the past two decades, we have grown our expertise and competence in the IT-enabled Design and Manufacturing centered Mechanical Engineering curriculum and research.

We have a strong undergraduate program in Mechanical engineering and M. Tech. programs. At the postgraduate level, we offer M. Tech CAD/CAM and this department has Research Centre to guide PhD students. The sanctioned student strengths of B. Tech and M. Tech.,are 180 and 18 respectively per year. At present, the department has intake of 58 PhD scholars. We have many candidates from other colleges, research laboratories and industries carrying out their doctoral studies in our department.

The primary focus of our curriculum is to impart technical know-how to students and promote their problem-solving skills and innovation of new technologies. Department offers Honors and Minors of interdisciplinary courses for providing cross-cutting knowledge to the students to pursue their interests. The course contents are periodically updated for introducing new scientific and technological developments. Undergraduate students are encouraged to undertake various research projects, publish papers in reputed journals and encouraged to spend time in the neighbouring industries.

Our department maintains active research groups for carrying out collaborative and interdisciplinary research. We have state-of-the-art research facilities to support our academic programs and research. Excellent funding for research helps us to maintain high standards in our research infrastructure.

Our department has a distinguished record in both teaching and research. Faculty members have excellent academic credentials and are highly regarded. The students of our department are placed on par with the students of IT Branches.
